A. Types of dining plans
**If you are not staying at a Disney resort, then you can skip to Part 4.
If you are staying at a Disney hotel, then you will also have the option of buying in to their dining plan. When you get the dining plan, you are pre-paying for a certain number of meals and snacks, which makes it very convenient when you are eating out at Disney. No need to carry cash or credit cards around, you just scan your Magic Band and it uses one of your credits that you have purchased towards your dining plan. This is available for anyone 3 years and older.
Depending on which plan you purchase, you will have limitations as to how many meals you have per week and what types of restaurants you can eat at. There are 3 types of credits:
Quick Service Credit – this will give you one credit towards a meal at one of their quick service restaurants. A quick service restaurant is one where you must stand in line to order your meal and then you seat yourself after collecting your food. These restaurants are quick, convenient, and the selection at most is usually quite good. A quick service credit includes one entrée and one non-alcoholic beverage (or alcoholic beverage, for guests 21 and older).
Table Service Credit – this will give you credit towards a meal at one of their table service restaurants. These type of restaurants do tend to be a better dining option if you want to have the full dining experience. Most of these restaurants do require reservations, so you will need to plan in advance where you will be on what days so that you can plan your dining reservations. Most restaurants only require one credit, but there are a few signature dining restaurants that will use 2 credits. Make sure you pay close attention to how many credits will be required when making your reservations. These can also be used towards character meals. Gratuities are not included in the cost, so you will need to pay that at the end of your meal. A table service credit includes one entrée and one non-alcoholic beverage (or alcoholic beverage, for guests 21 and older) OR one full-buffet for breakfast. For lunch/dinner, a table service credit will include one entrée, one dessert and one non-alcoholic beverage (or alcoholic beverage, for guests 21 and older) OR one full buffet.
Snack Credit – this will give you credit towards a wide variety of snacks in the parks, resorts and Disney Springs. Snacks can include ice cream, popcorn, popsicle, fruit bar, coffee, milk or juice, soft drinks, whole fruit, cupcakes…. the list is endless! Just look for the dining plan symbol (see below) on any menu to see if you can apply a snack credit towards an item:
