This month I had the pleasure of touring Disney’s Beach & Yacht Club, which is one of Disney’s Epcot area Deluxe resorts. I was really impressed with this property. It has a different feel from all the other resorts, not to mention that the location and pool are out of this world!
The Beach Club and Yacht Club are two different resorts, but they are connected and share the same property. So, when you book them, you have to select one or the other, but you can take advantage of both properties. Let’s take a tour through this Deluxe resort!
Lobby/Arrival
I was instantly impressed from the moment I pulled up to this resort. They had cast members opening the car doors for us greeting us personally to the resort. I think the service at any Disney hotel is high quality, but I felt a little more special at this Deluxe.
Each resort has its own entrance/lobby area. They are both stunning and while similar, do each have their own theming. The lobby area did not feel busy or noisy, and you could quietly sit and relax in the comfortable chairs they have set up. Just like other Disney resorts, they have a small sitting area for kids so that they can watch their favorite Disney cartoons. Great idea to keep the kids busy while mom and dad take care of checking in.
Dining
One of the advantages of staying at a Deluxe resort is that you will have several dining options since they will have more than one table-service restaurant on site. The Beach & Yacht Club have a total of 7 table-service restaurants. Of those 7, one is a character breakfast and one is a signature restaurant.
Cape May Cafe has a character breakfast every day, which features Minnie Mouse, Daisy, Donald and Goofy. The restaurant is located right off the lobby of the Beach Club. I was really impressed with the selection of food and everything was so delicious. I also thoroughly enjoyed the characters and they even have times where they dance with the kids in the restaurant. A definite must-do if you are staying at this property!
The Yachtsman Steakhouse is their signature restaurant. It is said to have the absolute best steak in all of Disney World, so if you are a fan of steak, you will want to give it a try. One thing to note is that The Yachtsman does have a dress code, so regular park attire is not the norm. They do not allow tank tops, flip flops, swimwear, caps or any torn clothing. Men must wear khakis, slacks or dress shorts and a collared shirt. Women must wear capri pants, skirts, dresses or dress shorts. Jeans may only be worn if in good condition.
Beaches n’ Cream, which can be entered from outside by the pool, is home to the infamous “Kitchen Sink”. This restaurant is known for their over the top desserts and milkshakes, but they also have great menu items for a meal as well. We had the chicken sandwich there and really enjoyed it. The Kitchen Sink is a sundae that is served in a dish that looks like a kitchen sink, with every possible topping you could think of. It is huge and is meant to be shared by a group. It runs at $32 and every time someone orders one, there is a big production in the restaurant when they serve it, so it comes with entertainment too!
Location
The location is one of the top reason why I feel this is one of the best properties on site. It is right outside of Epcot and immediately across the water from the Boardwalk Inn. That means that within walking distance, you are able to get to a park or visit another resort.
The Boardwalk Inn has several other dining options, so it is super convenient that you can just walk across the bridge and be there in 5 – 10 minutes. It just expands the amount of table-service restaurants you have at your disposal without having to go very far.
The walk to Epcot is about 5 minutes, and you enter in to the World Showcase, just between the UK and France pavilions. It is so convenient that you can walk right in to a park, and that entrance never has a long line-up, so it is really smooth and easy to get in to the park from there.
Rooms
A typical room at the Beach & Yacht Club is 381 square feet, so larger than what you will find at any of the values or moderates. The rooms have really nice decor and can sleep up to 5. Each room does have 2 queen beds and a day bed that pulls down for one extra sleeping area. This is a great option for families of 5 to all stay in one room.
You also get a balcony when staying at a Deluxe and depending on the view you booked, you could have a really nice view of the water. Every room also has a coffee machine, so you could enjoy a nice cup of coffee on your balcony every morning, overlooking the water. A perfect way to start any Disney day!
Pool & Beach Area
The Stormalong Bay pool has got to be the best pool out of any of the Disney hotels! It is very large and has a sandbottom, so you feel like you are really at the beach. They also have a lazy river and a wonderfully themed slide for the kids.
They also have a beach area in front of the water where you can sit on lounge chairs and enjoy the view of the Boardwalk. I noticed while we were there that they had signs set up for yoga on the beach. In the evening, they were also setting up for a campfire by the beach, which is super fun for the little ones!
Transportation
There are different options for getting to the parks from the Beach & Yacht Club. They have buses, which you would take to get to Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom. You can walk to both Epcot and Hollywood Studios. Epcot is a 5 minute walk, while Hollywood Studios is a bit further away with more of a 15-20 minute walk. You could also take the Friendship boat, which stops at Epcot, Hollywood Studios, Boardwalk Inn and the Swan & Dolphin resorts.
The Final Say
The Beach & Yacht Club is probably at the top of my list out of all the deluxe resorts on property. The theming is absolutely beautiful, the pool is amazing and the location is wonderful. It is a resort that I would highly recommend for both families and adults traveling without kids. If you can get a room with a discount, then that could end up being a really good deal.
I find this resort books up quickly because it is popular. The best thing to do is to book it early and then apply discounts when they come out.
