The Disney World Minnie Van service is a newer form of paid transportation that started appearing around Disney World in 2017. It’s a cute looking van themed to Minnie Mouse that will transport you within Disney property. If you are going hotel to hotel, or would rather take private transportation back to your hotel after the parks, rather than the crowded bus, it could be a good option for you.
The service runs through the Lyft app, so that is what you use to get a Minnie Van. It started out at a flat fee of $20 and then increased to a $25 flat fee. They recently changed the fee structure and now the cost varies depending on where you are travelling to. It now starts at a base price of $15 and then there is a mileage fee on top of that, which ranges between $2.75 to $3.00 per mile. Is it worth using the service with the new pricing structure? Let’s take a look!
Cost Comparison
Previously, when it was a $25 flat fee, you knew what price you were getting no matter what. It was $25 and it didn’t matter where you were going. Also, keep in mind, that you can only use this service if you are travelling within Disney property.
To request a Minnie Van, you just enter your pick-up and drop-off location in the Lyft app. You will see all the different options for cars and you can swipe left to view more options. The last option will show you the Minnie Van service.
I priced out a ride from the Animal Kingdom Lodge Jambo House to Disney’s Yacht Club. Here is the pricing on the Lyft app:

As you can see from the pricing above, the Minnie Vans are priced more like a premium service. Even if you request the Lyft XL for 6 passengers, you will spend half of what you will on a Minnie Van.
From a budgeting perspective, I would opt not to use the Minnie Van service because I would prefer to pay less to get from A to B. If you are 4 passengers or less, then you can pay even less with just the regular Lyft service. For the trip example above, it is a third less than the Minnie Van price.
Experience
If cost is not a factor, and the experience of the ride is more important to you, then you may lean towards using the Minnie Van service. I’ve used the regular Lyft service at Disney before a few times and have always had good service. Sometimes the driver may not be as chatty as the next, but they have always been polite and had very clean cars.
If you want that Disney service, then a Minnie Van may suit you better. You’ll get the same sort of service you are used to anywhere on the Disney property. Plus, some guests may just want the experience of driving in the Minnie Van to try it out. It really depends on what your priority is for the ride.
The Final Say
If you asked me if the Minnie Van service is worth the price, I would most likely say no. On property, I tend to mostly use the complimentary transportation that is available to us, but on the occasion, I will use the Lyft app. If I have to travel hotel to hotel, the Lyft app is my choice because it will be much quicker. I can usually get to most places on property for less than $10. Considering the Minnie Van starts at a flat fee of $15, I probably won’t ever use it.
They also offer it for transport to and from the airport, but the cost is quite high. With a price of $150 per trip, I would think that would be a hard sell for most people given that you have complimentary transportation on the Magical Express.
In the end, it really depends why you are using it. Do you want the experience of driving in the Minnie Van or are you hoping to get somewhere quick at the lowest cost possible? If cost is your priority, then I would recommend sticking with regular Lyft. If the experience is what you want, then go for it!

You left an important factor out of the equation – car seats. Minnie Vans come with 2 high quality car seats. The upcharge for 1 car seat is $10 on Uber and I’m not sure there are any with 2 car seats. So if you have small children requiring car seats, Minnie Vans may be the right option.
Yes, that is an important thing to consider when travelling with young children.
