Disney World is a great place to go and celebrate all the important milestones in your life. Birthdays are a great reason to visit and celebrate! Will you be celebrating a birthday at Disney World and want to know how you can make that celebration extra special? I’ve got a few ideas for you!
In-Room Celebrations
Disney offers a wide variety of different themed gifts you can add to your resort reservation. These often include a fun door banner and then many gifts that await you in your hotel room. It’s a great way to kick off a Disney vacation if you are celebrating something special. They have a few themed ones – Mickey, Minnie, Princesses, Pirates, Frozen etc.
If you booked with a travel agent that specializes in Disney, then you simply need to ask them to add this on for you. Otherwise, you can add them through Disney Floral & Gifts.
Get a Disney Birthday Button
When you check in to your resort, they often will ask you if you are celebrating anything. If you tell them you are celebrating a birthday, they will give you a free pin that you can wear in the parks. Wearing that pin will get you some special attention. Most Cast Members notice them and will stop to take the time to wish you a happy birthday.
If you are not staying at a Disney resort, you can still get a Disney birthday button. You’ll find them at all Guest Relations in the parks and most indoor merchandise locations. Just walk up and ask for a button 🙂
Get Disney Birthday Ears
This year they came out with special Disney birthday ears. It’s a great way to show off on your special day and let everyone know you are celebrating! You can purchase them in the parks or on ShopDisney for $24.99 USD
Cake Delivery
Want to celebrate with a Disney birthday cake? Then Disney’s got you covered! You can pre-order and arrange to have a birthday cake delivered to one of your table-service restaurant meals or to your Disney resort room. You can even order a special Mickey Mouse shaped cake, which costs approximately $35 USD.
To make arrangements to order a cake for a meal, you can call Disney Dining at (407) WDW-DINE or you can order in person at the restaurant’s host podium or your hotel’s concierge desk.
If you would like to have a special cake delivered to your hotel room, then you can call to make arrangements at (407) 827-2253.
Get a Special Makeover
Visit a Disney World salon and get a special makeover! For adults, Disney is now offering a “Character Couture Package”, where you can get your hair, makeup and nails styled according to a Disney character. They have such fun looks that would look great in the parks! To book one of these packages, you just need to call (407) 939-7727.
If you don’t want a character makeover, you can still book an appointment at one of the spas for some special treatments. They have the Senses Spa at both Grand Floridian and Saratoga Springs where you can book an appointment for a massage, facial, manicures, pedicures etc. And you don’t have to be a guest at those hotels to book an appointment. If you want a day of relaxation while on vacation, then a visit to the spa is the perfect way to achieve that!
For little ones, they have a few options for makeovers. At Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, both princesses and knights between the ages of 3 and 12 can get the royal treatment. They have a variety of different packages they offer from special hairstyles to complete head-to-toe transformations. Since this boutique is quite popular, it is very important that you book this in advance (up to 180 days in advance). If you used a travel agent to book your vacation, then they can take care of this for you, but if not, you can call (407) 939-7895.
If pirates and mermaids are your thing, then you can get a makeover for that too! The Pirates League at Magic Kingdom transforms guests ages 3 and older into a pirate, empress or mermaid. Reservations for these packages can be made up to 180 days in advance and can be made by calling (407) WDW-CREW or by making arrangements with your travel agent.

Attend a Dessert Party
Every night at Magic Kingdom, Epcot and Hollywood Studios, they have special themed dessert parties. These usually cost in the range of $19 USD to $79 USD per person. You get access to a special all-you-can eat buffet of sweets before the fireworks show. The buffet mostly consists of desserts, but sometimes has some savory options as well. You will also get an unlimited selection of tasty beverages, alcoholic and non-alcoholic. After the buffet of desserts, you will be treated to a special viewing area for the fireworks show.
I’ve attended a few of these and enjoyed all of them. While I would not do the same one a second time, I did enjoy the experience the first time. The special viewing area for the fireworks is totally worth it!

Decorate your Hotel Window
If you are staying at a value or moderate Disney hotel, then the entrance to your room opens to the outside. That means that you have a window in the outside hallway that many people will walk by. I often see many families that decorate that window when they are celebrating a birthday at Disney World. Make it fun and put up window decals or your favorite stuffed animals on the window ledge, hang a banner! It’s a great way to celebrate your birthday for the entire length of your vacation.
Let the Servers Know It’s Your Birthday!
If you are dining at a table service restaurant, then make sure to let the servers know you are celebrating a birthday. It’s not a guarantee, but they may do a little something special to help you celebrate 🙂
