When you think of Disney World, you probably think it’s a vacation that you can only do with kids. While Disney does appeal to kids, it is meant to be enjoyed by all ages and there are plenty of things for adults to enjoy as well. If you want to design a trip that will cater to adults, then I’ve got a list of things that you can enjoy at Disney World for adults!
Jellyrolls
This is a great nighttime venue for adults looking to have an evening of fun. You’ll find Jellyrolls at the Boardwalk Inn Resort and it is only for guests 21 and over. It is a bar with super fun entertainment! They have dueling pianos that put on quite the show and it often includes the audience singing along. It is a lively place to end your evening and enjoy some adult only fun. There is a cover charge to enter Jellyrolls.
Boardwalk Dance Hall
Want to dance the night away? Just a few steps away from Jellyrolls is the Dance Hall. It is open from 9 PM to 2 AM, and is for guests 21 and older. They do have a bar inside, so you can enjoy some yummy drinks while dancing the night away to the tunes that the DJ spins.
Eat & Drink Around the World
Epcot does tend to be the more “adult” themed park and part of that reason is because the World Showcase is very appealing to adults. You have 11 country pavilions that you can visit with various samplings of food and drinks from around the world. If you go during one of the many festivals (ie. International Food & Wine Festival), then you will also have the opportunity to visit all the marketplace booths they have set up to sample even more food and drinks. You can spend an entire half day just walking around the World Showcase eating different types of cuisine and trying different drinks/beer/wine from all around the world. As an adult, that sounds like heaven to me!
Highway in the Sky Dine Around
If food is high on your list of things you want to really enjoy on your vacation, then you’ll want to consider booking the Highway in the Sky Dine Around dinner option. This dinner includes 5 courses that you get to enjoy at the various resorts that are connected by the Magic Kingdom monorail. It is quite the experience as you travel from resort to resort enjoying different courses and cuisines. The evening ends at the Contemporary resort where you’ll finish off the night enjoying dessert while watching the Happily Ever After fireworks from a private patio.
This experience is for guests 12 and older, and the cost is $170 per guest plus tax. It is recommended that you book this experience in advance as it can fill up.
Keys to the Kingdom Tour
Ever wonder how Disney creates all the magic at the most magical place on earth? Well, they have a tour that allows you to learn about how they do that on a daily basis at the Magic Kingdom. This tour is only for guests 16 and older, so a perfect tour for adults. It is a 5-hour tour and it will take you behind the scenes where you will get to explore secret locations!
Theme park admission is required in order to do the tour and it is highly recommended that you book in advance to secure a spot. You can call (407) WDW-TOUR to book your spot for this tour.
All the Thrill Rides
While I have seen many 3 and 4 year olds on some of the bigger rides, there are some kids that are just too nervous to ride them. I have a hesitant child who wouldn’t ride many of the coaster style rides for many years. That meant that on those trips, I couldn’t do all the rides I wanted to. With an adults only trip, there are no limitations to what rides you can do. You don’t have to worry about height restrictions or nervous children. Go wild and ride anything you want!!
Disney Springs Dining
Disney Springs has some amazing restaurants and it really is worth a trip over to enjoy a nice dinner. While kids are welcome at every restaurant, there are some that do mostly cater to an adult crowd. I find the ones with live entertainment to be the most interesting for an adult night out.
Raglan Road has a great pub atmosphere and features live Irish dancers. You can enjoy some great food, beer and take in a show at the same time.
The Edison is another adults only favorite. They too have live entertainment and after 10 PM, it turns in to a 21 and up only establishment. Some evenings there is even dancing. It’s great for a date night, or a fun evening out with a group of friends.
Spa Treatments
if you are doing an adults only vacation, then you have the opportunity to enjoy a bit of relaxation. If you are a parent that left the kids at home, then this is a great time to enjoy something that you may not get to do very often at home. Disney has two spa locations at the Grand Floridian Resort and Saratoga Springs Resort. They have a wide variety of different treatments you can choose from:
- Facials
- Massages
- Body Therapies
- Manicures
- Pedicures
To book a spa treatment, you need to call (407) 939-7727.
Golf
If you are a golfing enthusiast, then you can enjoy a round of golf at Disney if you’d like! They have 4 golf courses to choose from: Disney’s Palm Golf Course, Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course, Disney’s Lake Buena Vista Golf Course, and Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course. You can book your tee times up to 3 months in advance at golfwdw.com.
After Hours
This has quickly become a very popular event – the After Hours parties! The best one is the one they offer at the Magic Kingdom and simply because it is the park with the most number of rides. This is a separate ticket event, which means you have to purchase an extra ticket to attend. It gives you access to the park for 3 hours after it closes.
What is really great about this event is that they sell a very limited number of tickets per night, so the park practically feels empty while you are there. You can ride your favorite rides over and over again with little to no wait. Being able to enjoy the park with no crowds and feeling like you have the whole place to yourself really is a special experience. The cost also includes unlimited ice cream, popcorn and soft drinks, so you can really load up on snacks during the event!
Victoria & Albert’s
Victoria & Albert’s is Disney’s AAA Five Diamond Award winning restaurant at the Grand Floridian Resort. It is a fine dining experience and something worth doing on an adults only trip. It is the ultimate romantic dinner at Disney and a must-do for any hardcore foodie.
This is popular and the seating is quite limited, so you do have to reserve in advance at 180 days out. They also have a dress code where men must wear dinner jackets with dress pants or slacks and shoes. Ties are optional. Women may wear a cocktail dress, nice dress, dressy pant suit or a skirt with a blouse. The cost of the meal starts at around $250 USD per person and goes up depending on what you would like to add to the meal, or if you would like to do wine pairings. They also have a Chef’s Table option that includes a champagne toast by the chef followed by 11 courses.
