Tons of items get lost at Disney World on a daily basis. With so many people coming through, Disney has had to refine their system in regards to how to deal with lost items. So, how do you go about getting your lost item back? Disney really does think of everything and they have recently put a new system in place to help their guests with lost items. The Disney World lost and found system has had some recent changes, which will make it easier for guests to locate their lost items.
First Place to Check
If you discovered that you lost an item while you are still in the park, then that is your first chance to try and see if you can get it back. Most guests at Disney are honest and kind, and will turn in a lost item if they find it. Same goes for a Cast Member, if they find a lost item, they will bring it to the appropriate place so it has the best chance at being found.
The first place you’ll want to go to is Guest Relations. They have one in every park and it is the most likely place that someone would turn in a found item. We lost an entire pin bag and pressed penny collection once and someone was kind enough to turn it in to Guest Relations, where we were later able to retrieve it. Here is where you will find Guest Relations in every park:
Magic Kingdom – to the left when you enter the park, in City Hall
Epcot – just past Spaceship Earth, to the left after entering park
Animal Kingdom – immediately to the left when you enter the park
Hollywood Studios – Immediately to the left when you enter the park
Typhoon Lagoon – to the left of the entrance gates
Blizzard Beach – to the left, right before the entrance gates
Old System
Disney’s old Lost & Found system required you to phone in your report of your lost item. They would take down your information and then you would cross your fingers that they would find it. They would take down your home address, so that they could mail it back to you if they ended up finding it after your trip.
Although it was great to have a system to deal with Lost & Found items, there was no way to really track what was happening with your report. I’ve used the old system before and in the end, nothing came of it. I reported the lost item and then never heard anything again. I am assuming that no one turned it in, but it was frustrating that there was no way to track or follow up.
New & Improved System
Disney has now entered the digital age with their new Lost & Found tracking system. They now have an online form that you fill out to submit your report of your lost item. This new system will save you time waiting in lines at Guest Relations or on the phone.
You start by providing them with the details of your lost item. Try to be as detailed as possible so that they can distinguish it from other similar lost items. If you lost your phone, then provide extra details like what your screensaver looks like or the design of your phone case. Just telling them that you lost an iPhone will give you less of a chance of them finding your item.
The next step is to provide them with your contact information so that they can follow up with you about your item. That portion of the form looks like this:
After you submit your report, you will receive an email from Disney with your Lost Item claim number. That is what will allow you to track your claim. Previously, with the old method, this was not available. You would just call in and hope to hear back that they found your item. Now you can follow up.
After you receive that initial email, you will receive another one within 48 hours to provide you with an update after they have tried to locate your item.
The online form above is good for items lost at the following locations:
- Magic Kingdom
- Epcot
- Animal Kingdom
- Hollywood Studios
- Typhoon Lagoon
- Blizzard Beach
- Disney Springs
- ESPN Wide World of Sports
- Disney transportation except Magical Express (see below)
Resorts & Magical Express
There are a few locations where you would not use the online form. If you lost something at your Disney hotel, then instead, you would report it to your Lobby Concierge. They will take your report and follow up on it for you.
In the event that you lose an item while on Magical Express, then you will need to phone them to report the lost item. That phone number is (407) 423-5566.

Lost 2 personal items on recent trip. Never got either one back. Splash mountain employees seemed to care less when I exited ride and told them I lost my hat. Then, daughter lost necklace charm & unable to find at Epcot
So sorry to hear that you couldn’t get your lost items back 🙁
I left my red brush and flat iron ( curling iron) in room 2023 at the Dolphin Hotel. The girl I talked to said housekeeping did not find it. To go to website and fill out form. I tried but there was no drop down for Dolphin Hotel. I am certain that I left these items in the bathroom of room number 2023. Please help 😢
Unfortunately, the Dolphin is not an official Disney hotel so that is why you do not find it in their list of hotels. I recommend that you call the hotel directly and speak to them about your lost item.
