Are you having trouble choosing your Magic Kingdom rides? First-time visit and you have no clue which ones will be good for your family? Look no further, this guide will give you all the details you need to decide which rides are best for you. It is broken down by sections of the park.

I have provided you with a description of each ride, along with important facts. I have also provided some ratings to help you decide if it is the type of ride you are looking for. Each ride also has an on-ride video that you could take a look at to get a complete feel for the ride.

Barnstormer

A great “starter” roller coaster ride for little ones. The thrill only lasts 15 seconds, so it is a great way to introduce young kids to a roller coaster style of ride.

Dumbo the Flying Elephant

This is a classic ride that is good for all ages. You’ll get to ride in an elephant and soar high as you go round and round at the circus. This ride gives you some spectacular views of the park as you are flying high in your elephant.

Enchanted Tales with Belle

This attraction isn’t so much a ride, but more of an interactive experience. You’ll start off by getting to walk through Maurice’s cottage and then travel through a magic passageway to meet Belle. Cast members will select audience members (mostly children) for parts to play along and tell the story of Belle. Of course, Belle makes an appearance in her ballgown and at the end you will have an opportunity to take a picture with her.

it’s a small world

A classic Disney attraction, it takes you on a slow moving boat ride as you visit children from all around the world. They sing the classic song that goes with this ride and you’ll be singing along with it when you get off.

Mad Tea Party

Themed after Alice in Wonderland, this ride is sure to give you a good spin! The ride seats you in teacups and then it goes round and round. While the entire ride moves around, you can also spin your own teacup with a wheel inside your own cup. You get to control how much or how little you spin.

The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh

This is a slow moving ride for any age. You will embark in to your honey pot vehicle and go for an adventure in the hundred acre wood. While it is very slow and themed to Winnie the Pooh, there is one dark portion of the ride that could frighten young children afraid of the dark. The stand-by line is also a part of the attraction as they have many activities to keep the kids entertained as you wait your turn.

Mickey’s PhilharMagic

A 3D movie adventure that takes you through a few Disney classic movies. Donald is getting the orchestra ready for a performance and comes across Mickey’s Sorcerer Hat. The hat takes him through classic movies like The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, The Lion King and Be Our Guest. You’ll experience all of the great musical pieces from these movies in 3D!

Peter Pan’s Flight

This is a slow moving ride that is good for any age. You will embark in your ride car that is your very own themed pirate ship. As you take off, your ship flies up in to the sky as you ride along over Neverland. It’s dark inside, but everything is lit up and looks neon, so it’s quite the sight to see!

Prince Charming’s Regal Carousel

A classic carousel ride in the middle of Fantasyland!

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

This is a really fun family coaster. You’ll get a thrill as you twist, turn and drop throughout the ride. A portion of it takes you through the “mines’ of the Dwarfs where you will get to see them working. It is a bit fast paced, but still enjoyable for younger kids if they like thrilling rides.

Under the Sea ~ Journey of the Little Mermaid

A fun slow moving ride for anyone that enjoys the story and music from The Little Mermaid. You’ll embark in to a clamshell and get to relive Ariel’s story. This ride is super fun for any age, great for the whole family!

Tomorrowland

Tomorrowland Speedway

Buzz around in your own race car and enjoy the view of Tomorrowland. You’ll get to drive your own car (on a guided track of course). Little ones may not be tall enough to reach the pedal, but they can still sit in the driver’s seat while you push the pedal and help them steer. You can go as slow or fast as you want (don’t worry, it doesn’t go too fast), but be mindful of the drivers around you! Great for any age.

Tron Lightcycle Run

This is a high thrill roller coaster where you will get to ride on a Lightcycle and race through “The Grid” on a high-speed adventure. This is one of the fastest coasters at Disney World.

Astro Orbiter

In this ride you’ll get to fly in a spaceship high up in the sky. You start by taking an elevator up to the platform and then embark in your spaceship that seats two. If you are afraid of heights, this may not be the ride for you, but if not, then this will give you the opportunity to get some amazing views of the park. The ships go round and round, and you can control how high you go.

Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin

You are on a misson to help defeat the evil Zurg! You embark in your vehicle (which seats 2), and each passenger gets a laser gun to shoot at the targets. The goal is to get the highest points you can. The ride is slow moving and good for any age level.

Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor

A comedy show put on by Monsters! A show for all ages that is a lot of great fun. Stay alert, as you may be included in this funny show.

Space Mountain

If you are looking for some thrill, then this is the ride for you! It is an indoors roller coaster that you get to ride in the dark. You won’t be able to see what’s coming, which is what makes it really exciting!

PeopleMover

This is a monorail-style ride, great for relaxing and taking a break. The ride vehicles seat about 4 people each and it will take you on a tour of Tomorrowland. You’ll ride around outside and inside some of the attractions so you can get a sneak peek at the other rides in Tomorrowland.

Carousel of Progress

Take a trip in history to see how technology has progressed. This is an audio-animatronics show within a revolving theater. The theater turns bringing you to each era, from the turn of the 20th century until the present time. This attraction was personally created by Walt Disney for the New York World’s Fair in 1964, a must-see for any Disney fan!

Liberty Square

Haunted Mansion

A spooky ride through a mansion filled with happy haunts! The ride is slow moving and while nothing jumps out at you to “scare” you, the darkness and spooky theme of the ride could sometimes be scary for little ones. Before you embark on the ride, you will go in to the “stretching” room which is your introduction to the ride and does get completely dark for a moment. It sets the tone for the rest of the ride.

Liberty Square Riverboat

This is a relaxing boat ride on the Liberty Belle. It will take you around the river that runs along Frontierland and you’ll get to have a sneak peek of Tom Sawyer’s Island. It’s a great opportunity to take a break when you just want to slow it down a bit.

Frontierland

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

Get on board a runaway train and get ready for a thrilling ride! This is a family coaster and lots of fun. It doesn’t have any large drops, but a lot of twists, turns and a few bumps along the way. If you are looking for some speed and thrill, this is the ride for you!

Splash Mountain

This ride is “mostly” leisurely, but it does provide some thrill at the end. It’s a log ride that takes you on a ride through Frontierland as you enjoy some tunes. It is combined with the outdoors and indoors. There are a few dips along the way, but they save the best for last. Get ready for the big drop and you may get wet!

Adventureland

Jungle Cruise

Take a guided boat ride through the jungle. Your boat will be led by a Skipper that provides entertainment while telling you about the “animals” you will see along the cruise. It’s a slow moving ride, great for the entire family.

The Magic Carpets of Aladdin

Take flight over Agrabah in a magic carpet. Each carpet can seat 4 people, 2 in the front and 2 in the back. You will fly around and be able to control how high you go. Watch out for the spitting camel, you may get a little wet!

Pirates of the Caribbean

Calling all pirates! This is a slow moving boat ride that will allow you to witness several different pirate scenes. There is one small drop where it gets completely dark, but other than that, the ride is pretty tame.

Main Street USA

Walt Disney World Railroad

Take a scenic train ride all around the Magic Kingdom. You can take it as a form of transportation to either Frontierland or Fantasyland, or you could just ride it all around the park. It’s very relaxing and good for any age.
