When we think back to 2020, it’s probably safe to say that not many of us have any travel memories to reflect on. It was the year that travel took a break, and it is slowly starting to come back. People are itching to go on vacation, and Disney is at the top of the list for a lot of families. A 2022 Disney vacation sounds really good right about now! Are you with me?
Whether you plan to travel later this year or are looking forward to 2022 – this is the year where you want to book VERY far in advance. Anyone that thinks really far ahead and books at least a year out will be very thankful they did when it comes to travel in the next year.
Why should you consider booking that 2022 Disney World vacation now? I’ve got a few good reasons for you below:
Demand Will Be Sky High!
As soon as the health authorities give travel the green light and borders open up, many families will be rushing to get a vacation booked. With increased demand, comes less availability. I truly believe that we will see a surge in travel and that a lot of places will see complete sell outs – including Disney World.
Disney World is the top destination for families, so there is no doubt that people will want to get back to the magic. If you wait too long, you could be out of luck. Hotels and park tickets could be completely sold out. After waiting for so long to take a vacation, you don’t want to have to wait even longer because you didn’t grab the opportunity to book early.
Park Reservations
Along with a park ticket, you now also need a park reservation to enter a park. It looks like these park reservations are going to be around for awhile. Right now you still have to make park reservations well into the beginning of 2023.
That means people are filling up those spots in the parks right now! We don’t know what the capacity will be like next year, so it’s best to reserve your spot now while it is wide open. As soon as you have your package booked, you’ll be able to link it in My Disney Experience and immediately be able to select your park days.
Don’t worry – nothing is set in stone when you reserve your park days. If you change your mind later on, you can always switch your park days as long as there is availability at the park you want to switch to.
No Risk Deposits
When you book a Disney hotel/ticket package, you only need to put down a $200 USD deposit. That deposit is fully refundable up until 30 days before check-in. There is absolutely no risk to booking early! In fact, you only benefit by locking in your reservations early.
Should your plans change as you get closer to your travel date, you can always cancel or reschedule with no penalty 30 days before check-in. When you get to a month out from your travel dates, you should have a pretty good idea if you will be able to make that trip or not.
Something To Look Forward To
This past year has been rough. People have been exhausted and really need a break. When you have a vacation booked and something on the calendar, it gives you something to look forward to. I feel like there has been a lot of darkness the last year, and we all really need that light at the end of the tunnel to dream about.
I have a couple of reservations booked for future travel, and it has really helped to brighten my mood. I spend time thinking about the resort, where we will eat and all the fun we will have in the parks. I finally feel excited about something, which is a big contrast to how I felt last year.
Disney’s 50th Anniversary Celebration
Disney has recently announced that they will be celebrating their 50th anniversary for 18 months. I was previously concerned that crowds would be heavy around October 1, 2021 because that is the actual anniversary. Turns out Disney is extending the celebration so that more people will be able to enjoy it.
This will no doubt bring more people to the parks and resorts. With new shows, rides, decorations, and merchandise expected – people will be flocking to Disney to join in the celebration. It is a big milestone and just another reason for families to plan a special trip to see the Mouse!
Some new rides that we can expect are:
- Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure in Epcot
- Tron Lightcycle Power Run in Magic Kingdom
- Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind in Epcot
So with all this anticipation, do you plan to visit Disney World in 2022? If so, don’t be “late” like the White Rabbit in Alice in Wonderland 😉 Book smart and book EARLY!
