Christmas 2020 at Walt Disney World has officially kicked off! Although this year looks a bit different from years past, there is still lots of Christmas magic to be felt in the parks. Disney seems to be doing a really great job at bringing the Christmas spirit to the parks and guests will not be disappointed! Here is how you will be able to celebrate Christmas 2020 at Walt Disney World this holiday season:
Christmas at the Magic Kingdom
The Magic Kingdom was transformed overnight from Halloween to Christmas. Beautiful decorations adorn Main Street U.S.A. so that you will get into the Christmas spirit the minute you step into Magic Kingdom. The spectacular Christmas tree is in town square just as you enter, and then you have a magical view down Main Street with festive decorations.
Throughout the day, you will get to see several character cavalcades. These are unscheduled floats and characters that parade through the park. It is Disney’s alternative to character meet & greets so that guests can still see characters from a safe distance. They run them several times per day, so you will most likely see them a few times during your day in the park. For the Christmas season, the cavalcades are all Christmas themed. You’ll see the characters dressed in their holiday costumes, and even get a glimpse of reindeer, toy soldiers and Santa Claus!
After the sun has set, you will get to enjoy festive projections on Cinderella Castle. The projection effects include festive stripes and dots, a whimsical Christmas sweater look, a jeweled winter castle and a regal overlay of red, green and gold ornamentation. The projection show will give you a great backdrop for some festive family photos.
Holiday Treats
At every park, you will find special holiday treats to enjoy. Delicious cupcakes, cookies, hot chocolates, churros – you name it! Disney has done a fantastic job of putting together a delicious array to satisfy all of our tummies! Most of these treats became available as of Nov. 6th, and will continue to be sold right until the end of the holiday season.
Hollywood Holiday Tower Hotel
This show runs at Hollywood Studios nightly and on a continuous basis. There are several opportunities per night to see it, so plenty of opportunity to catch the projections anytime after sunset. You’ll find this show on Sunset Boulevard with the Tower of Terror being the main focus. You’ll get to see colourful projections on the Tower of Terror. This year does differ though that there will be no music or “snow” accompanying the projection show.

International Festival of the Holidays
You’ll find this festival at Epcot and it is included with park admission. It runs from November 27th to December 30th. In this festival you will find costumed performers around World Showcase, holiday kitchens where you can sample seasonal recipes ($), a scavenger hunt featuring Olaf, and a holiday cookie stroll!
You will also have a chance to see plenty of characters throughout the park in their holiday attire. Santa Claus even has a tour around World Showcase where you will get to see him pass by in his horse-drawn carriage.
Tree of Life Awakenings – Holiday Edition
At Animal Kingdom park, you will get to continue to enjoy the Tree of Life Awakenings after sunset, but now it will be with a holiday twist! The tree, which is the symbol of the parks, shimmers and sparkles each evening bringing nature and the magic of the holidays alive.
Christmas Tree Stroll at Disney Springs
This activity is completely free and requires no admission! It’s held at Disney Springs where you will get to discover Disney decorated trees throughout all the neighbourhoods of Disney Springs. There are a total of 12 trees to find and you can pick up a map with stickers to turn this into a game. As you find each tree, you need to place the sticker on the map that represents the theme of the tree. Make sure to pick up your map at Guest Services before you start the stroll!
